Our opinion
The best 50cc professional chainsaw on the market. Nothing else comes close. Weighing just under 5kg, producing 3.8hp and revving like only a Husqvarna can, what more do you want from the most versatile saw available? Fit a 13″ bar and you’ve got the quickest snedding saw possible. Fit an 18″ bar and go felling trees, or better still, fit a 15″ bar and do everything you’d usually be getting a bigger 60+cc saw out to do.
The 550XP and 560XP are the two saws that we regularly see tempting die-hard Stihl fans into the Husqvarna fold, and once they’ve experienced how a Husqvarna revs, they rarely return to Stihl for mid-range saws.
If you’re not so keen on Autotune saws, and want something a bit more old-school, with a conventional carburettor, then we’d suggest you take a look at the Echo CS-501SX – slightly lower revving, more torquey, with Japenese reliability and longevity. The CS-501SX is also fitted with Sugihara bars and Oregon chains as standard.
The price shown is the manufacturers recommended retail price, including VAT for the 15″ variant of the 550XP chainsaw. We aim to be competitive on all our saws, so please do get in touch if you’re in the market for a Husqvarna saw.
The ‘XPG’ version adds heated handles, for greater comfort in cold weather and reported to reduce incidences of ‘white-finger’, for an additional cost.
